The Maple Review

The Maple Review exists to identify and dismantle the barriers to entrepreneurship caused by economic deprivation. Through research, lived experience, stakeholder collaboration and storytelling, the review aims to make enterprise accessible to everyone, regardless of starting point.

Spearheaded by Small Business Britain, with backing from the UK Government and supported by Xero, The Maple Review aims to make enterprise accessible to everyone, regardless of starting point, through research, close consultation with entrepreneurs with lived experience, and engagement with policymakers.

The Maple Review will uncover the barriers that prevent individuals from starting or scaling a business, due to economic deprivation, and suggest practical recommendations to drive positive changes.

The research stage begins now and will continue into early 2026, with chances to be involved through a national survey, regional roundtables, or by contributing to the Call for Evidence and sharing your own stories or submitting existing research and data for consideration.

The full report, including actionable recommendations for central and local Government, the private sector and more, will be launched in Spring 2026.
